What This Check Cannot Tell You
- Features change with the TV model, the country and the software version. A feature marked "Some models" may or may not be on your TV.
- Protected videos (DRM), like Netflix or Disney+, cannot be cast with any casting app.
- The check does not look at your network. Your phone and TV must be on the same Wi-Fi.
Casting Questions
How do I know if my TV can play videos from my phone?
Pick your TV brand above. The check shows if Video & TV Cast works with your TV, which app edition you need, and if the TV has Chromecast built-in or AirPlay 2.
What does Chromecast built-in mean?
The TV can play videos sent from a phone with Google Cast, with no extra device. TVs with Google TV or Android TV have it, for example many Sony, TCL and Hisense TVs, and Vizio SmartCast TVs.
What does AirPlay 2 mean?
AirPlay 2 is the way Apple sends videos from an iPhone, iPad or Mac to a TV. Samsung TVs from 2018, LG TVs from 2019 and some Sony, Vizio, Roku and other TVs have it. It does not work from Android phones.
Does Video & TV Cast work with Apple TV?
No. To cast with Video & TV Cast, plug a Chromecast or Fire TV Stick into your TV. From an iPhone or iPad, you can use AirPlay to send videos to an Apple TV.
Can I cast to an old TV without smart features?
Not on its own. Plug a Chromecast or a Fire TV Stick into a free HDMI port, then use Video & TV Cast for Chromecast or Video & TV Cast for Fire TV.
Why are there different Video & TV Cast apps?
Each TV platform talks to phones in its own way. Each edition of Video & TV Cast is made for one platform, so it connects quickly and reliably. The check above names the edition for your TV.
Can I cast Netflix or Disney+ with Video & TV Cast?
No. These services protect their videos with DRM, so no casting app can send them. Use the Netflix or Disney+ app on your TV instead.
My TV is not on the list. What now?
If your TV or Blu-ray player can play videos from your home network (DLNA), try Video & TV Cast for DLNA. Otherwise write to us at info@video-tv-cast.com and tell us your TV model.
App Editions
If you have a different Smart TV or streaming player, please switch to the TV Cast App Edition tailored for your device. Or try the new TV Remote App to control your TV with your phone or tablet while casting.
